Method 1: Xbox Game Bar (Basic & Manual)
Windows includes the Xbox Game Bar overlay, which shows a rough icon-based battery indicator for official Xbox controllers:
Open Game Bar Overlay
Press the Win + G shortcut on your keyboard, or press the Xbox button in the center of your Xbox controller.
Locate the Controller Widget
In the top bar, you will see a small controller battery icon. Note that this is usually just a 3-bar or 4-bar indicator without exact percentages, and it often does not detect PS5 DualSense controllers properly.
Limitation of Xbox Game Bar
Game Bar requires you to interrupt your gameplay by opening an overlay. It will not alert you with a toast notification when the battery reaches 10% or 5% unless you actively check it.
